Spring, summer, autumn and winter - each season gives the mountains a new face.

When the winter leaves the Alps, the spring arrives and the first crocuses are in flower in the calmest time in the mountains. Only if the sun is strong enough to get titillation back onto our skin the first bikers and climbers are coming to Mallnitz. The summer at our place offers many opportunities: hiking, climbing, biking, swimming in the clear lakes of the region and many more. The late summer, also if the highest summits of the mountains are still free of snow, attracts the alpinists. Easy and demanding mountain tours are calling. If the colourations of the leaves starts with gold-yellow, red and brown the nature shows its best glory. The sky dazzles azure and the air is really clean, therefore the mountains seems to be within one's grasp. The autumn is the herald of the winter and brings us the first snow - the glacier skiing is now starting. If the white glory is turning the formerly green scenic into a glittery winter land the winter athletes are drawn to us. Skiing, cross-country skiing, sledging or going on a ski tour, there is something for every age level.

Every season is accompanied by a Carinthian or Austrian tradition - eastern at the village square, Corpus Christi cortege, mid summer festival, national park festival, bringing the cattle down from the mountain pastures, country fair from Mallnitz, Christmas with snow, caroller or the famous and notorious "Perchte". Also the skiing carnival from Mallnitz (MA-SCHI-FA) invites you to participate.

In Carinthia Mallnitz is the first community which joined the association Alpine Pearls. The aim of this scheme is environmentally friendly mobility.

Alpine Pearls is a co-operation of 24 tourist communities from 6 alpine states, which was founded on the 29th January 2006.

Mallnitz is now in collaboration with famed villages like Bertesgaden, Morzine-Avoriaz, Chamois, Sauris, Arosa and Interlaken. This is of course also a commitment.

The members have to fulfil strict quality criteria like for example traffic calmed areas in the village, transfer services, environmentally friendly leisure time offers, mobility guarantee without a car and ecological minimum standards. The focus lies in the creation of innovative, sustainable tourism offers, which connect different tourist places of interest with the advantages of soft mobility and environmentally friendly transportation.
